ARTIST STATEMENT:

Greetings, Earthlings,

I'm an American artist currently residing in the sleepy town of Monticello, Indiana. In my youth, I found that I had an unusual passion and obsession with creating ink drawings on paper. As time went on, I wanted to develop a deeper understanding of visual arts and would seek out new ways to expand my technical knowledge. In 2008, I made the decision to move forward with oil as the primary medium for my work, finding it to be the most effective and flexible means for portraying my message to the viewer.

For myself as an artist, painting is a form of creation. My goal for each painting is to create an idea that engages the viewer and encourages thought and interpretation. It is, after all, the communication and interpretation of ideas that sets humanity aside from everything else we currently know of, and has allowed us to build the sophisticated technologically advanced society that we are blessed to be a part of today. I believe that all forms of art are the foundation of which our world is built upon.

Within my paintings, there is a blend of influence ranging from the Old Masters, to more modern artists such as Salvador Dali, H.R. Giger, Jackson Pollock, and Wassily Kandinsky: all artists that have grabbed my attention and influenced me throughout my life. While some of my work is meant to convey a general concept or idea, other paintings such as Majestic Breakfast, All Hope is Not Lost, and Bad Day Bovine for example, do have a deeper personal meaning that I hope others can interpret and relate to. As I move forward, I plan to continue to combine colorful geometrical shapes and patterns with narrative subject matter for thought-provoking storytelling and engagement.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my work and this site. I hope you enjoy your stay!
